M2 Task 5 Unit 28

When creating my website I used Dreamweaver as this program makes it easy to create a standard website as i can use the table feature to be able to place my images, links and text where I want.

One of the features that I have used when creating my website is the navigation, this is so people can get from page to page using links on my website, these links are clearly displayed at the top of the websites page like this.

Another feature that I  have used is the visual elements, this is in the form of thumbnail images that i have used to show which trailer opens with which screenshot.
Something else that I have used is the links to other web pages, I have made the links to buy the films go to a donation page and the film trailer links go to a YouTube page with that film trailer.

Unit 28 Task 2 P2+P3

P2

User side factors:

Download speed- The download speed of someones computer effects how quickly a web page loads on their screen, so the lower the download speed the slower the page loads. When making this is should keep the images to a smaller size to make it easier for people to load on their screens and keep the videos and trailers on a separate link to make it easier to the page to load.

PC Performance- PC performance is more of a issue for people with much older computers as their processor and cache speed will be much worse and when making this site I need to take into account that people may have much slower computers and make my site easier for them to load.

Server side factors:

Web server capacity- Web server capacity is how many computers can be connected to the web page at and given time, this is called the bandwidth and if too many people try to connect at once the website can crash  and go offline.

File types- Different file types on a web page can effect how quickly it loads. Larger files types mean its going to take longer for the page to load in full and this can be a problem for someone with a slow internet connection. For example a PNG may take longer than a JPEG to load. To make sure this sin not a problem I will choose a small file type of compress an image file.

Web architecture:

ISP

An ISP/Internet Service Provider is a company that provides people and other companies access to the Internet through a broadband router or a dial-up modem.

Web Hosting Services
A web hosting service is a type of internet hosting service that allows people and companies to make their website available on the World Wide Web

Domain Structure

Domain structure is the term given to how a web address is formed. The top level domain of a web address (.com ect.) is the main section of the address, which depicts the type of website that the address will take you to if you use it.

A few of these would be:

M1

Web 2.0- Web 2.0 is the second generation of the World Wide Web in which content is user-generated and dynamic, examples of this would be blogs, wikis and forums.

Blogs- A blog is a website that can act as a diary or journal and anyone can create them, they can be controlled by a single person or a group of people and they can choose to either remain anonymous or not. Blogs are mostly used for people to write their opinions of just about their day. When somebody writes a blog it is in the form of a post which is a single piece of writing on the blog.

Online Application- An online application is a computer program or service that can run in a web browser. Web applications can be things such as online spreadsheets and presentation tools to thing such as online flash games.

Cloud Computing- Could computing is basically internet based computing and the "cloud" is just a metaphor for the internet. Cloud computing mainly consists of online storage and sharing. An example of this would be Dropbox as you can save all kinds of files on their website and share it  with anyone that you choose to share it with.

Task 6, Evaluation

Is it fit for purpose?
Yes, I think it fit for its purpose as a digital brochure, it clearly advertises Pot Noodle and their products along with a short history too.

Are the media elements appropriate?
I think the media elements are appropriate because it contains pictures and few animations, in the updated version is could add in some original photos and videos.

Does it work without errors or broken links?
Yes, my product does work without broken error and links.

Is it professional?
Currently I think it looks professional as it contains the companies products and logos.

Give at least 5 amendments you think the designer should make.

1. The product could contain more original photos and videos.
2. The should be buttons to navigate the product.
3. The layout is very basic and could be changed to something better.
4. The information could be displayed more clearly.
5. The font should be different and easier to read.

Task 4, P5, Unit 43

When switching between screen I made it so the information and pictures moved left out of the screen as well as it fades out. When this happens the next screen will then move and fade in from the right. Each screen requires you to mouse click to move to the next one as it stops on each screen.

To move the information a pictures from each screen to the next I used keyframes. This is the one for the logo at the start. It starts on the left had side at 0% opacity, then centers itself on the screen gradually going to 100% opacity and stopping n the middle and is then continued when you click on the screen. It will then move to the left off of the screen and gradually returning to 0% opacity.

M1

I have completely changed the layout of the design, instead of having 4 different pages containing their own information, i have made it so there is one page that gives a preview of what  they contain and you will be able to navigate between them by using the arrows on either side. Then to access more information, there will be a "Read More" button under most of the slabs of text leading to more detailed information.

All of these images are taken from different Blogs/Websites. To be able to use these images I would have to contact the person who, took the photos and uploaded them and ask for permission. Some of the images that i would use could be copyrighted by the owners, to use these i would have to ask for permission and in some cases i would have to pay to be able to use the images.

Unit 43 Task 1

P1

For my multimedia product I am going to create a Digital Brochure for Pot Noodle.
Multimedia Types: For example this could be sound and still or moving images, I am going to use still images for the digital brochure as it will a much cleaner design overall and as there is no specific target audience the still images will still look appealing but will also cater to the different audiences. But I may include a short video or an animation to fit the purpose as a digital brochure as it shows the product that i'm advertising.  The different type of media that are used are usually chosen depending on the purpose of target audience. For example for a digital brochure you would most likely use still images as it will look more formal but if it the product was aimed younger people the media type used would be sound and moving images as this would be more appealing to them.

Business Requirements: this includes the Target Audience, Purpose and the Platform. As this Digital Brochure is aimed at most audiences   One on the first tings to know when creating a multimedia product is the target audience, as each part of the multimedia product it tailored around this with the formality of the product and the types of media used. Another thing to consider when making the product would be the platform, for example the platform on PC would be .exe and MAC would be .dmg.

Business Objectives: promotion and advertising eg web pages, digital posters, virtual tours, education and training eg simulations, e-learning packages, entertainment and leisure eg computer games, virtual reality. When producing a multimedia product it is important to know which of these is it going to be based around depending on the purpose and the target audience. This product in particular will be used for advertising Pot Noodle.

Audience: This incudes areas such as profiles eg age, gender, culture, race, class, business, interests, IT literacy. The only thing that should impact the resulting product is the interests and the IT literacy of the audience. The promotional video should be kept at a fairly simple level to allow people who aren't very familiar to be able to use the multimedia product with ease. Although the product is aimed at all ranges of ages,  genders, cultures, races, I suspect the main audience will be thte younger generation.
